Four Fremont County residents have died as a result of COVID-19, according to the Wyoming Department of Health.

All four were previously identified as laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, and each had been hospitalized.

The four include an older man, older woman, adult woman and adult man. Two of the four had existing illnesses that put them at higher risk of serious illness related to the virus.

There have been 320 confirmed and 116 probable cases reported so far from across Wyoming. Dr. Alexia Harrist, state health officer and state epidemiologist with the WDH, said while there has been a lot of talk about who has the highest risk of hospitalization and death related to COVID-19, the truth is that anyone can get sick with the virus, anyone has a chance of serious illness and anyone who is infected can pass the virus on to others.

The Wyoming Department of Health continues to recommend that, in order to slow the spread of illness, people following current public health orders, including staying home as much as possible; stay home when sick and avoid contact with other people unless medical attention is needed; wash hands often and well, cover your coughs and sneezes and clean and disinfect your surroundings; and wear cloth face coverings in public settings where social distancing measure are difficult to maintain.

Symptoms reported with COVID-19 include fever, cough and shortness of breath.
