Ron RichterThe International Pathfinders Camporee is scheduled to take place August 5 – 11 at the Camplex in Gillette and is expected to host approximately 60,000 Pathfinders from over 100 countries. Emergency management and local officials have been preparing for the event for the past 18 months. The state has been participating in conference calls with roughly 300 invited partners, including event organizers. Sheridan County Emergency Management Coordinator Jesse Ludikhuize said that the influx of people will have an impact on many of the communities in northeast Wyoming, including Sheridan County.
Attendees will be visiting Gillette as part of the Seventh-day Adventist church and will travel by various modes of transportation, to include buses and other passenger vehicles, through different areas of the state to reach their destination. The International Pathfinders Camporee is held every five years.
