A pretrial conference for Brice Graves of Sheridan was held this past Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court. Graves is scheduled to go to trial on August 19 for the charge of aggravated assault and battery. Public Defender Anna Malmberg said at the hearing that the State did submit an offer for a plea agreement, but that her client (Graves) still had some questions and issues that he wanted to discuss with her about the plea deal.
Fifty prospective jurors will be brought in for the jury selection process for the trial.

According to court documents, Graves was charged with the alleged crime for attempting to stab another individual multiple times with a knife on March 10 in an apartment at 1410 North Main Street in Sheridan. The alleged victim was able to flee the apartment and report the crime. Graves was located by the Sheridan Police Department at the North Main apartment and was placed under arrest. If convicted, Graves faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
