Gatchell Museum Association Presents Check for $57K

At the recent Johnson County Commission meeting, representatives from the Gatchell Museum Association presented a check in the amount of $57,317 to the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum.

The presentation of the check is the first since a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was approved earlier this year between the commissioners, the Jim Gatchell Museum (JGMM), and the Gatchell Museum Association (GMA).

County Attorney Tucker Ruby explained the MOU to the commission during a meeting earlier this spring.

The MOU specifies how the GMA will distribute funds to the museum raised through its various fundraising activities, as well as the amount to be be distributed.

It also outlines that the GMA will primarily be responsible for fundraising and will still continue their fundraising efforts to increase support for the museum and to continue to grow the museum’s endowment.
