Ron RichterSheridan Police Chief Travis Koltiksa during a recent appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, said the continuing development of technology has contributed to the complexity of scams that are out there. Chief Koltiska informed listeners about a scam that occurred recently in Sheridan.
Chief Koltiska said the scammer was asking for a $2,500 ransom via Western Union.
Koltiska said that if someone initiates contact with you and demands money or payment in some form, it is a 99.9 percent chance that it’s a scam. Koltiska encouraged people to report any possible scam by contacting the Police Department to discuss the circumstances surrounding the initiated contact before taking any action.
