While appearing on our talk show Public Pulse, HUB on Smith’s Director of Development Ryan Koltiska and current Urban Thrift Manager Erin Kranz, discussed the pending closure of the thrift store, which will be happening on June 28.

Until then there will be inventory clearance sales in the store, and continued sales at their warehouse location throughout the summer.

Kranz, who will oversee the clearances and the closure, will then switch roles and become the new Community Engagement Specialist for the HUB.

She said she has a special attachment to the thrift store, it’s employees and volunteers.

Kranz said Urban Thrift is assisting their employees and volunteers in finding positions elsewhere in the HUB organization.

Koltiska discussed Operation Independence, designed to assist senior citizens in remaining in their homes and out of institutions as long as possible.

Koltiska said funds are donated by generous people in the community through his, and soon, Kranz’s efforts.

I saw this article and realized that I had never known about the Thrift store at the HUB. I pay some attention to local happenings and places, not intensively, but it occurred to me that the possible issue is that not enough people know about this not only for donations, but to shop. to my mind, the Thrift store needs much more exposure and promotion.

I will miss the thrift store. I not only donated but shopped there quite often.
