The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has announced their fisheries biologists will join the U.S. Forest Service, Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, Bear Lodge Resort and Powder River Basin Trout Unlimited for a kids fishing day at the Bear Lodge Resort Pond at Burgess Junction in the Bighorn Mountains. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 22.

Families are invited to attend. Children aged 13 years and under who are Wyoming residents do not need a Wyoming fishing license. Non-resident children 13 and under must have an adult with a valid Wyoming fishing license on site.

This event is free. The department reports that participants should be prepared for fishing and mountain weather by bringing their own fishing tackle, rain gear, layered clothing, snacks, coolers with ice for transporting fish, sunblock, and insect repellant. Fishing rods will be available for use by children who do not have their own. There will be great prizes for the kid’s participating in this fun event.

For directions to the fishing pond or other questions, please contact the U.S. Forest Service Tongue Ranger District in Sheridan at 307-674-2600.
