Johnson County Deputy Attorney Barry Crago is still negotiaiting with Y2 Consultants of Jackson and their legal team to finalize contract for them to update the county’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan.

The differences between them are minor wording issues in the contract and over ownership of the data once the update is complete.

Johnson County has received the draft contract from Y2 Consultants after the county commission voted to award them the contract to update the county’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan.

During the recent county commission meeting, crago, County Planner Jim Waller and the commissioners discussed the problems in the contract, with Commission Chair Bill Novotny stressing the importance of the county having ownership of the compiled data in the updated plan.

The commission set the decision to accept the contract aside until thei next meeting April 16 to give Crago and Waller time to discuss the county’s position on the contract issues, when they hope to have an updated contract to sign.

Once the contract has been agreed on by both parties, work on the update is expected to begin this spring with a kickoff meeting and selection of the project team made up of members of the county commission, planning & zoning commission and planning department staff all working on the plan update.

The contract with Y2 Consulting is for a not-to-exceed amount of $109,000.
