cvannoyOn February 20, The Brinton Museum in Big Horn announced a new exhibition, One Person’s Vision: The Art of Dean States, featuring 45 colored pencil drawings ranging from works created earlier in the artist’s career to pieces recently finished in the studio.
States is a master artisan of the colored pencil medium. He is recognized for his intricate, detailed drawings of landscapes and wildlife as well as, perhaps somewhat unexpectedly, kimonos and cubistic portraits. His use of color is often times vibrant while in some instances he steps back from a brighter palette to incorporate more subdued colors often representative of his smaller works.
One Person’s Vision: The Art of Dean States opens with an artist’s reception in the S. K. Johnston, Jr. Family Gallery on March 1, from 5 to 7 PM. This show continues through May 12.
The exhibition and reception is offered free and open to the public through the generosity of Ramaco Carbon, LLC who is sponsoring the museum’s general admission for the second consecutive year.
