JCSD1 Not Awarded COPS Grant Funding

In his report to the Johnson County School Board earlier this month, Facilities Director John Zink said the district was not awarded funding from the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) through the U.S. Department of Justice.

Board member Dave Belus asked about the district’s $500,000 grant application.

Zink said the district will move forward with the project, which will be used to replace the bells and intercom systems at Kaycee School, Buffalo High School, and Cloud Peak Elementary.

Zink was also asked for an update on the status of the elevator project at BHS.

He said he had been contacted by TK Elevator saying that the material shipping for the project will now be in mid-December.

Zink reported that the elevator equipment room should be completed soon.
