Jeanette Mooney and Sharie Shada from the Sheridan Philanthropic Educational Organization, Chapter B.I. made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to announce their upcoming concert on Nov. 18.
According to Mooney, the P.E.O came about at Iowa Wesleyan College in 1869 when a group of women were not invited to be members of a sorority. Instead of protest, they created their own.

The P.E.O. has five chapters in Sheridan. All of them raise funds to further the education of young women who apply and qualify through grants, scholarships and loans controlled by the P.E.O. to further the horizons of Wyoming’s young women.

To help raise funds for this effort, each organization holds independent events, sales and fundraisers.
Mooney and Shada have been working and rehearsing with their fellow P.E.O. sisters to present, the “Sounds of Sisters” at 4 p.m. Nov. 18, at the First Presbyterian Church, at 2121 Colonial Dr. in Sheridan. The concert will feature a variety of musical acts including handbell choir, singers, pianists, as well as both solo and group performances on different instruments.
The event is free but a suggested $15 donation is very appreciated at the door.
