On Saturday, Oct. 14, the Reagan Day Dinner was held at the Ramada Plaza Convention Center. The Sheridan County Republican Party held this event, which is their largest fundraiser, and sold 337 tickets this year. The evening consisted of a live and silent auction containing items from various local shops and donors. The meal consisted of the guests’ choice of salmon or beef with sides that included roasted carrots, asparagus, loaded baked potatoes, and salads that were presented buffet style.

The event hosted a group of guest speakers, including Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray, Wyoming Secretary of State, Superintendent of Instruction Megen Degenfelder, and Treasurer Curtis Meier. Gray was eager to address his push against ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) policies to maintain our current way of life.

Megan Degenfelder even had the chance to address our current state of education in Wyoming and her hopes to instill change, such as focusing on the improvement of parental rights as well as a shift away from sexually explicit materials in school libraries.

U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman, R-Wyoming, was initially supposed to attend in person but unfortunately could not make it due to the current absence of leadership with the Speaker of the House. She was able to attend via Zoom from her home in D.C. and address some of the massive topics currently surrounding the nation. The first topic that Hageman addressed was her support for Representative Jim Jordan to become the next speaker of the House.

Hageman also had the chance to address the horrible and tragic conflict that is currently happening between Israel and Palestine and gave her condolences to the families involved.

Hageman also took time to criticize Biden’s cabinet for their lack of experience and inability to take accountability which she noted with the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 as one of her main points.
