Cemetery Board Votes to Change Cremation Garden Location
During their regular meeting for October on Tuesday, the Johnson County Cemetery District Board toured a secondary site for their proposed cremation garden.
The new location will be in the southeast corner of the cemetery instead of the previous proposed site near the pump house.
At their September meeting, Board President Luke Goddard said the pump house location would not be visually attractive and would have noise from the pumps during the summer, and the infrastructure in the area would be a problem for construction.
Sexton Shawn Sullivan explained to the board why he thought the new site would be a better location.
Sullivan added that the new location would have great views of the mountains to the west, the plains to the east and a good view of the cemetery itself.
After touring the site, the board came back into their regular meeting and voted to approve the secondary site over the site previously earmarked for the garden.
