The Brinton Museum will present its second juried print competition, Printmaking in the Rockies and on the Great Plains, opening in the Jacomien Mars Reception Gallery on Oct. 21.
According to a release, this exhibition includes works by more than 40 artists and represents a wide-range of diverse printmaking processes. The museum’s print show was juried by master printmaker Jim Jereb from Laramie. Jereb’s academic experiences include professor of art; Albany County School District and Sheridan Area School District artist-in-residence; and visiting instructor and graduate teaching assistant at the University of Wyoming Art Department. Jereb has been a curator, technical consultant, lecturer, and visiting instructor for numerous programs, several of which were presented at Central Wyoming College Art Department in Riverton; Albany County School District in Laramie; and The Brinton Museum.
A reception for participating artists takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, and is free and open to the public. Printmaking in the Rockies and on the Great Plains continues through Dec. 23.
Show Awards: Ludmila Dranchak Best of Show, 1st Place, 2nd Place and 3rd Place Awards are made possible through funds allocated by the Art Trustee of the Ludmila Dranchak Estate for the purpose of the promotion of the visual arts. According to The Brinton, Dranchak was an accomplished artist with a passion for the medium of intaglio. The style of her work comprises modernism to abstraction and is influenced, in part, by contemporary artists of the period. The Brinton Museum holdings include 361 works by Dranchak.
