Sheridan Commission Ratifies Contract for Fire Mitigation Services

A contract for fire mitigation services in the Little Bighorn River Canyon area between Sheridan County and contractor Chris Thomas has been ratified by the Sheridan County Commission.

According to the contract, Thomas will assist the county in the development and execution of a fuels reduction project for the area.

Funding for the contract is through a Community Assistance on Adjacent Lands (CAFA) Grant through the Wyoming State Forestry Division.

The contract specifies the county will pay Thomas $35 per hour, mileage reimbursement at the approved IRS rate, and reimbursement of approved expenses as well as approved use of the County Fire Warden’s vehicle.

Total payment under the contract shall not exceed $16,500.

The services shall be performed between August 7, 2023 and May 15, 2024.
