August 2023 Unemployment Rates In Sheridan And Johnson Counties Unchanged From Previous Month

Not as many people were unemployed last month compared to one year ago, according to the Wyoming State Department Of Workforce Services.

The Department says the statewide unemployment rate dropped from 3.0% in July 2023 to 2.9% in August.

It was 3.7% in August of 2022.

The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August 2023 was at 3.8%, which is up from 3.5% in July 2023, and up from 3.7% in August of last year.

Percentage numbers in Sheridan and Johnson Counties for August 2023 are unchanged from the month before.

Sheridan County was at 2.4%, while Johnson County was at 2.5%.

Those numbers are down from 3.1% in August of 2022.

Teton County had the lowest unemployment rate in Wyoming in August 2023 at 1.5%, while Fremont County had the highest rate at 3.3%.

Nonfarm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 8,300 jobs from August 2022 to August 2023.
