Montana Woman Visiting Maryland Diagnosed with COVID-19

The Maryland Governor’s office is reporting that a Montana woman visiting the State of Maryland has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
KTVQ News in Billings reports that in a news release from the Office of Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, the Maryland Deptartment of Health has notified the Montana health office and Governor Hogan has contacted Montana Gov. Steve Bullock about the diagnosis.
According to officials, the woman is in her 70’s and was visiting Maryland’s Anne Arundel County and had previously been in close contact with a confirmed case.
She was tested at an Anne Aruendel County hospital.
While this case was diagnosed in Maryland, it will be classified as a Montana case and that this particular case will be investigated by the Maryland and Anne Arundel County health departments.
The woman has not been identified and it is unclear where in Montana she is from.
Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte released a statement saying the country is best prepared in the world to keep Montana residents safe from the virus and that the Trump administration is using the tools provided by Congress to respond to this public health crisis.
Governor Steve Bullock, also in a release, said Montana officials are working with Maryland to confirm case details on when this person was last in Montana, and that the state is committed to providing accurate and transparent information as soon as possible.
Montana still does not have a confirmed case in the state at this time.
