Sheridan IMPACT 307 presents a challenge to potential entrepreneurs to compete with like-minded contestants and earn a chance to make a dream come to fruition by participating in the Start-Up Challenge.

Sheridan IMPACT 307 Director Scot Rendall told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse that budding entrepreneurs must meet at least one of the three criteria to apply for the Challenge. One, an applicant can have a prototype of a product, perhaps even had made a few sales and they wish to expand their operation. Two, an entrepreneur has a small existing company but a new idea has been developed that can take it from the garage to the big leagues. Or three, an applicant might simply have an idea that they feel can develop into the next big thing.

This is how Megan Welles began her journey. Welles is one of the winners of last year’s Start-Up Challenge. But she started with just an idea. And Welles openly admits, (like many of us) she didn’t know the next step to take which would allow the idea to develop into something more.

That’s when she learned of the Start-Up Challenge. Through the Start-Up Challenge, Sheridan IMPACT 307 provides a monetary incentive and the business support needed for contestants to act on their ideas. The Sheridan Start-Up Challenge offers a $100,000 seed capital fund to the winners to help the new ventures launch or expand to a greater market.

Rendall and his team at Sheridan IMPACT 307 stand ready to get the Start-Up Challenge participants to that point. Welles talked about the experience and lessons learned in that early development stage.

Participating in the Start-Up Challenge got Welles the means and the resources she needed to perfect the HorseWell Equine Massager.

HorseWell is now a successful budding business, offering the HorseWell Massager in three different colors and Welles is developing other products for the business.

The 7th annual Start-Up Challenge deadline to apply is Sept. 18. The staff at IMPACT 307 stand ready to assist any potential entrants with their application.
