County Approves Road & Bridge New Hire

Johnson County Road and Bridge will be hiring a new employee after the county commission approved the request from Supervisor Scott Pehringer.

Pehringer said the employee needing replaced has resigned for his family to move to a new location.

Pehringer said he believes the position is necessary due to increases in workload such as additions to school bus routes that require his department to keep more county roads clear of snow.

According to discussions at the county commission meeting, the current employee was making $24.50 per hour, and the new hire will be brought in at a slightly lower level depending on experience.

The commissioners, although concerned about possible future job cuts depending on revenue, approved the Road and Bridge Department to hire a new operator.
