Lodging Tax Ready for Governor Approval

It appears as if the state of Wyoming will have a lodging tax established as the 65th Wyoming Legislature has approved and signed House Bill 134 and sent it to Governor Mark Gordon’s Desk for the final approval. Local Representative Richard Tass expressed his frustrations over the attempts made to raise taxes during the 2020 Budget session.
Representative Tass continued on to say that he thinks cuts to spending are inevitable.
Tass voted against the bill on introduction and 3rd reading but voted in favor during concurrence. Local Representative Cyrus Western voted in favor during introduction and concurrence but against the measure on 3rd reading while Mark Kinner voted consistently in favor and Mark Jennings voted consistently against. So we’re slapping our visitors with a 300% tax increase, just as the entire tourism industry is shutting down. Great idea! When people in NY and CA find out they can pay a lower tax in there home state…they’ll just stay home. 15% of nothing is…..let me do the math…..nothing.
