Aaron PalmerThe Sheridan County Commission has voted to support a grant application for funding for the Red Grade Trails System.
The grant application will be to the Wyoming Business Council for their Business Ready Grant and Loan Program.
Brad Bauer, Executive Director of the Sheridan Community Land Trust, explained the scope of the project and its funding.
Bauer said there are 15 miles approved by the Forest Service, six miles approved on state land, and a pending approval of a portion of BLM lands, and the trails will be multi-use for hiking, biking, and equestrian use.
He explains the phases in the project.
The county voted to approve the grant application and will participate along with the Sheridan Community Land Trust, USFS Bighorn National Forest, the National Forest Foundation along with funding through private donations and foundation grants.

Why are we not getting a trail from woodland park school to connect to college like they have discussed for years to connect the whole town as one. The highway is dangerous to ride bikes and walk and why has this not been continued??

If you look at WYDOT’s plan for reconstructing that section of road, I believe it includes a bike/walking path as well as widening the road and adding a turning lane.
