JCSD#1 Board Approves Mills for Rec Board, BOCHES

Published

on

During their regular meeting this week, the Johnson County School Board voted to approve the intent to levy 1 mill for the Recreation Board and .5 mill for the Board of Cooperative Higher Education Services (BOCHES).

The board had a lengthy discussion on whether or not the school district should be involved in asking the county to levy the mills, spurred by an opinion of board member Randy Brown, who does not agree with the additional burden on county taxpayers.

The board, during their consent agenda, voted to approve the intent to levy the mills, with Brown the lone dissenting vote.

Since the intent to levy the mills was approved, the assessment amount will be approved by the board at their July budget hearing.
