An arraignment hearing was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for 55-year-old Gena Dvarishkis. At the hearing, Dvarishkis pleaded not guilty to four counts of theft, one of which is a felony. Between October of 2022 and March of 2023, Dvarishkis allegedly stole cash and jewelry from a number of individuals in Sheridan County. District Court Judge Darci Phillips scheduled a three day jury trial to begin on October 16 and set the date for a pretrial conference for September 14 at 11 am. Felony theft is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Each count of misdemeanor theft is punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $750.

Dvarishkis has another case in District Court that is also scheduled for trial in October. In May, Dvarishkis entered a plea of not guilty to the charge of felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine. Dvarishkis was arrested in March for the drug possession after a deputy with the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for her residence after receiving information that identified Dvarishkis as a felony theft suspect. During the search, the deputy found over three grams of methamphetamine and paraphernalia affiliated with methamphetamine use.
