The Buffalo City Council, at their regular meeting Tuesday, voted to accept the Water & Sewer American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant funding award in the amount of $900,000 to fund the city’s water meter replacement project.

Mayor Shane Schrader explained that the project is for remote-read water meters that will be installed city-wide.

Schrader also discussed another project the city was awarded funding for

According to an earlier story, the city applied for funding for replacement of the water distribution line and the sanitary sewer line on Sunset Avenue from Park Lane to Cedar Street.

The amount requested in ARPA funds from the state was $2.4 million, which will be combined with a local match of nearly $577,000 for a total of just over $3 million for the project.
