Pat BlairSheridan College bands will present three performances during Concert Week at the college this week.
All will be in the college’s Whitney Center for the Arts and will be open free to the public.
Jazz at Sheridan College will present a concert Friday featuring Mardi Gras, blues, funk and big band swing music. The event will start at 7 p.m. in Kinnison Hall, and the audience will hear a premiere of Nancy Crabb’s “Second Street Blues” among other selections.
On Saturday, Dr. Sarah Herbert, who’s a trumpet professor at the University of Wyoming, will give an open masterclass in the Whitney Center for the Arts instrumental rehearsal studio from 10 a.m. to noon.
Topics of her presentation will include brass fundamentals, sound production, intonation, breathing, range and how to develop strong practice habits.
On Sunday, the Sheridan College Symphony Band and Brass Ensembles will present a concert in Kinnison Hall starting at 4 p.m.
