Sheridan Commission Ratifies Sage Grouse MOU
Sheridan County has ratified a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) that establishes a cooperating agency relationship between the agencies concerning management of the Greater Sage Grouse plan.
According to the MOU, the Sheridan County Commissioners will help in preparing plan amendments for Greater Sage Grouse management in the BLM’s land use plans and the associated Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
The EIS prepared under the terms of the MOU will consider amending 10 BLM Wyoming Resource Management Plans (RMPs) that are collectively referred to as Land Use Plans (LUPs).
In an earlier meeting, the county commission explained that Sheridan County, by adopting the earlier MOU to become involved in the process, would have a seat at the table to discuss with the BLM the changes they will make in the coming years to the Greater Sage Grouse plan.
Commission Chair Christi Haswell.
Haswell said even though those areas may not be in Sheridan County, they may still impact the county.
