The Sheridan County YMCA has been upgrading and remodeling the facility for approximately six years.

In that time a wide array of improvements have been made, including the addition of the Aquatic Center, a new weight and cardio room, rooms for classes and activities and much, much more.

Executive Director of the YMCA, Liz Cassiday, told listeners of the Public Pulse program that as supply issues, COVID-19 and inflation swept the nation, she and her team had to adapt and overcome the obstacles to complete the goals of the Y50 campaign while being conscious of their spending.

The newest portion of the project to the YMCA’s improvements is the addition of an elevator to the facility.

The Y50 campaign is more than just an update or improvement. The construction is intended to prepare the YMCA for the next 50 years of growth in the community.

Cassiday said she appreciates the patience of the Y members who have had to endure the construction but remained in high spirits and have been able to share in the Y50 campaign’s progress.

Cassiday told listeners she looks forward to the end of construction and the return of events, but she also said there’s still a long way to go to ensure that the YMCA is ready for whatever the future may bring.
