In less than three weeks, the orange barrels will begin to appear on Main Street in downtown Sheridan.
While construction crews will work one block at a time, they will be implementing a rolling 3-block closure moving southbound.
When one block is finished they will open up that area and then close the next one 3 blocks away.
Cort Headquist is the Project Manager of Oftedal Construction from the Casper area, which is the company that will be doing the concrete work.
He says the rolling block closure is a common practice in construction.
It’s better than shutting down every block that will eventually be worked on at once, and it gives crews enough safe room to work and to place all of their machinery and equipment.
“That’s set up that way in order to still be able to get enough done at one time, to get the project finished in a reasonable amount of time without shutting down the whole downtown at once. As you close additional blocks, you’ll be working on all of them at the same time.”
WYDOT’s plan is to have the section of Main Street between Dow and Brundage Street completed by the end of October.
Blocks that are south of Brundage will be worked on next year.
