Ron RichterThe message from Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon during a recent media conference on the release of his supplemental budget proposal, was that of maintaining an efficient government now, and in the future. Gordon said that government in Wyoming is leaner than it has been for a generation.
Gordon said his proposed supplemental budget focuses on current needs while positioning Wyoming better to meet future needs. The Governor said Wyoming will continue to take steps toward a more diverse economy.
Gordon said Wyoming has benefited from high energy prices over the past year as there is a $913 million surplus in the state’s General Fund and Budget Reserve Account. Gordon is proposing that legislators allocate half of the surplus into savings and will present his supplemental budget proposal to the Legislature’s Joint Appropriations Committee on December 8, 2022. The General Session of the Wyoming Legislature is scheduled to begin January 10 in Cheyenne.
