Ron RichterThe recent appointment of Wyoming State Senator Drew Perkins as the next Chief of Staff for Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon caused a ripple effect in the State Senate. One of the committee changes to fill the vacancy caused by Perkins’ departure was the appointment of Senator Dave Kinskey as Chairman of the Joint Appropriations Committee. Kinskey talked about his new role as chair of the JAC.
Kinskey discussed the challenges of serving on the Joint Appropriations Committee.
Due largely in part to high energy prices, the state brought in more revenue than expected this year and Governor Mark Gordon, during his supplemental budget proposal release Friday, said there is a $913 million surplus in the state’s General Fund and Budget Reserve Account. Kinskey elaborated on the surplus.
The Wyoming GOP State Central Committee over the weekend selected Kinskey to serve as Vice President of the Senate for the upcoming Legislative Session. The General Session of the Wyoming Legislature is scheduled to begin January 10 in Cheyenne.
