After almost two decades of public service, Sheridan County Commissioner Terry Cram will hand-off his commission seat to Commissioner-elect Allen Thompson at the beginning of the year.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Sheridan County Commissioner Tom Ringley informed listeners incoming commissioners attend an orientation.

The orientation for incoming county commissioners is developed and put on by the Wyoming County Commissioners Association. The association also developed and disseminates the handbooks for incoming commissioners.

Currently the Sheriff of Sheridan County, Thompson has served in law enforcement for 25 years. In October of 2021, Thompson announced he would not seek reelection for the Sheriff’s Office but that he planned to remain in Sheridan and seek other opportunities to serve the people of Sheridan County.

One of Thompson’s primary goals as sheriff was leadership development and the adoption of an intensive selection process for promotion, focusing on the candidate’s community service traits.

Thompson will be sworn onto the Sheridan County Commissioner on Jan. 3, 2023.
