Sheridan County’s Commissioners, at their regular Tuesday meeting, voted to help establish the Sheridan County Attainable Housing Council (SCAHC), accept the funding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and passed a resolution to create a Joint Attainable Housing Trust Fund.

County Administrative Director Renee Obermueller gave some background on how the SCAHC came about.

The establishment of the Attainable Housing Council will address the problem of affordable housing in the city and county to help residents lower the cost of housing in the community, as explained by Commissioner Nick Siddle.

The city and county each contributed $1.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for the trust fund.

Want affordable housing? Cut taxes and regulations. Then get gov’t completely out of the way. Free-markets and private business will solve the problem. Adding another socialistic gov’t committee will only cost taxpayers more money and make the problem worse.
