The Gallatin County Health Department in Montana issued a news release Monday that states that an individual with travel history from mainland China is being evaluated at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital for an illness. As a precautionary measure, the individual has been placed in isolation and is being evaluated in a manner recommended by current guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) designed to prevent cases of novel coronavirus.

Gallatin City-County Health Department (GCCHD) and Bozeman Health are collaborating closely with partners at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) and the CDC to coordinate care for the individual, assess the cause of the person’s illness, and limit any risk of exposure to others in the hospital or community.According to Q2 News out of Billings, officials with RiverStone Health in Billings, said they couldn’t immediately comment on the situation Monday afternoon after Q2 requested an interview. Health Officer Matt Kelley with the Gallatin City-County Health Department, said that this is not unexpected, as there are many individuals from the community who travel the world, and that they’ve been preparing for this type of a situation. Kelley added that just because some is not feeling well, does not mean that they have novel coronavirus, but they are using an abundance of caution so that the risk to others is minimized.

He said that this is the time for vigilance and caution, but the public should know that the risk to others in the area is very low. More on this developing story can be found here: https://www.ktvq.com/news/montana-news/sick-person-placed-in-isolation-in-bozeman-out-of-fears-of-coronavirus
