Lands owned by Johnson County near the airport have been traditionally used for grazing, and a lease for the rights to the property has been approved by the county commission.

At an earlier meeting, County Attorney Tucker Ruby discussed the lease agreement with the commission.

Ruby said he is satisfied with the wording and the protections for the county property within the agreement and recommended the commission sign the agreement.

The lease agreement is for 12 months with an option for another 1-year lease, for a fee of $4,424.25 which was the highest bid for the grazing lease.

The lease will allow up to 20 animal units on the property.
