Red Grade Road Reopened to Appropriate Vehicles After Avalanche Stranded Several

An avalanche that closed Red Grade Road to all traffic and also stranded several individuals in the Bighorn Mountains has been cleared and the roadway reopened. Sheridan County Emergency Management Coordinator Bruce Edwards, shared the details on the people that had an unscheduled extended stay in their cabin.

All of the individuals have now made it back down the mountain. No other missing persons or damaged property has been reported at this point. Edwards explained if the area was prone to these types of slides.

Edwards said that road and bridge personnel started clearing the slide Tuesday and the thoroughfare was reopened to tracked and over the snow vehicles by 3pm that afternoon.
