After enduring the worst of the recent flooding events, most of the northern section of Yellowstone National Park is about to reopen.

Park officials say the north loop to the park will open to motor vehicle traffic on Saturday, July 2nd, and about 93% of park roads will be accessible, however the North and Northeast entrances will remain closed.

The license plate entry system that the park has been using since reopening the South loop, will be suspended that same day as well.

Federal Highway Administration engineers have completed bridge and road safety inspections and wastewater systems within the north loop have been temporarily repaired.

The park cautions the public that high water remains in many waterways and to be aware of back-country closures within the north loop, due to hazardous conditions or damaged trails and bridges.
