Bears finding attractants near homes in Sheridan County

The Wyoming Game and Fish Sheridan Regional Office wishes to inform the public that bears have accessed unsecured garbage, beehives, bird feeders and other attractants in local communities this spring.
Game and Fish Public Information Specialist Christina Schmidt told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, to walk around their property and secure anything that may attract a bear. And to keep in mind that a bear’s sense of smell is much greater than even that of a dog.
To prevent conflicts, please keep all attractants secure and out of the reach of bears, including garbage, outside pet food, livestock grain, barbecue grills and backyard domestic livestock.
