The newly elected mayor of Clearmont is familiar with the job. Chris Schock held the seat from 2014 – 2018. He was recently reelected in May as the only running candidate.
Schock began his second term as mayor on June 1. A retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant, Schock served in Afghanistan after the events of 9/11 and currently serves as the treasurer for the Sheridan County School District #3 board.
Schock chose not to seek a second term as the mayor of Clearmont due to his campaigns in 2018 for both the Sheridan County Commission and Wyoming House of Representatives District 40. Schock lost both races but he does not call them unsuccessful. Having traveled around the region while campaigning, Schock said he learned concerns and what matters to people from the residents he spoke with along the way.
Schock told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program why he chose to run for the mayoral seat in this year’s election.
According to Schock, just a few years ago the Town of Clearmont was home to 250 – 300 residents, that number has reduced to 150. Schock told listeners that he would like to see Clearmont serve as a home for workers in Sheridan, Buffalo and Gillette.
Sheridan Media will feature more from Clearmont Mayor Chris Schock’s appearance on Public Pulse in future stories.
