An avalanche in the Bighorn Mountains has made Red Grade road impassable to over the snow and tracked vehicles according to Sheridan County Emergency Management. The slide occurred about a half mile above the springs in the burn area. Red Grade is already closed to wheeled conveyances through April.

Sheridan County Road and Bridge crews will be making efforts to reopen Red Grade to winter traffic once they have finished clearing operations on county roads, although they do not have a time estimate on when the trail will be accessible for the public. To facilitate heavy equipment and safe operations in reopening the roadway, the public is asked to stay away from the impacted area, starting at the end of the pavement of Wyoming highway 335. An announcement will be made when the road can be safely traversed.
