Sheridan County Adopts Historic Preservation Plan

The Sheridan County Commission has voted to accept the Sheridan County Historic Preservation Plan as presented by the Sheridan County Historic Preservation Commission (SCHPC).

Christine Varah, with the SCHPC, explained they had come before the commission in 2021 and asked for a funding match to apply for a grant to compile the plan.

Varah said the historic commission worked with the public to help identify objectives for the future.

She said the commission is currently working on two National Registered Historic Preservation (NRHP) nominations, and have applied for the First Congregational Church’s NRHP nomination.
