SCSD#2 Invites Community to Wyoming Profile of a Graduate Initiative Thursday

A news release from Sheridan County School District #2 on May 17, invites community members to participate in the Wyoming Profile of a Graduate Initiative on May 19, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Sheridan County School District Administration Office Board Room at 201 N. Connor Street

The Wyoming State Board of Education is partnering with eight school districts to host community sessions where stakeholders will: 1) learn about the new Wyoming Profile of a Graduate initiative; 2) provide feedback on the draft profile; and 3) connect local values and strengths to the draft profile.

Each Community Session is designed to be a 90 minute in-person meeting that brings together up to 30 individuals representing a broad cross-section of the community: educators, board members, students, parents, community leaders, business/industry folks, faith-based leaders, youth workers, etc. Stakeholders will participate in activities that draw on their unique experience and expertise, and should plan to be present and engaged for the full length of the meeting.

In preparation for the session, please review the following recommendations for the Wyoming Profile of a Graduate. If you have questions about the event or need to request accessibility accommodations, please contact Diana Clapp at (diana.clapp@wyo.gov).

According to the release, the agenda will be as follows: Welcome: Goals for the Day and Community Norms. Icebreaker: Who’s in the room? What skills are you bringing? The WHAT, HOW, and WHY of the Wyoming Profile of a Graduate. Activity: Mapping powerful learning experiences to the Profile. Discussion: Access, barriers, and policy opportunities for powerful learning. Activity: Refining the Profile of a Graduate. Reflection and Next Steps.
