After nearly 34 years since the murder of their daughter Lisa, the case has ended in some ways for the Kimmell family, and in other ways, it hasn’t and never will.
This past Friday, Dale Wayne Eaton was re-sentenced to life in prison without parole, for the 1988 first degree murder, kidnapping, robbery and sexual assault of Lisa Marie Kimmell.
Eaton was originally given the death penalty in 2004, but that sentence was struck down by a federal judge in 2014.
In a press conference that was held after the sentencing hearing, Kimmell’s mother, Sheila said, not only did the family have to deal with the anguish and emotional stress of Lisa’s death, all the time in the courthouse took its toll as well.
“For us, this just closes another chapter of a long book, a novel, a big chapter, but that doesn’t mean there’s not another chapter, and another one and another one and hopefully this will be the last, final chapter that we have to sustain with the legal system. Emotional, it never goes away.”
Lisa’s father passed away 2 years ago.
