Not mentioned in your discussions the unimaginable investment in existing energy sources and the related economies that support them. “free power” would cause such a disruption in established routine behavior, my concern would be that adjusting to that life would be the same or even worse than, say, evangelic do-gooders trying to convert wild and free Indians to live in houses, and farm like white men.
