Five Residents Displaced After Mobile Home Fire On Coffeen Avenue

Two adults and three children were able to safely evacuate when a fire started in their mobile home near Sheridan College.
According to Sheridan Fire and Rescue, a call came in just before 11pm on Tuesday (March 8th) regarding a fire on the 2800 block of Coffeen Avenue.
When crews arrived a few minutes later, they found a single story mobile home with a moderate amount of fire and smoke coming from the rear end of the building.
Once crews got inside, they found the majority of the fire and smoke coming from a back bedroom and were able to extinguish it.
The building was then ventilated and overhauled to remove all residual smoke, heat and the potential for the fire to rekindle.
No injuries to civilians, pets and emergency personnel have been reported.
Those who were evacuated are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Sheridan Fire and Rescue says if you can, try to close doors when evacuating a structure.
This can limit the fresh air a fire needs to grow.
When crews arrived on scene they found both exterior doors open.
