cvannoyThe monthly meeting of the SCSD#3 School Board met Wednesday night, Jan. 12, with a light agenda of action items.
Paula Steiger of Bennett, Weber and Hermsted, LLP, gave the board a report on the district audit, and said the firm found no compliance issues. Acting superintendent Boyd Brown thanked Steiger and the firm for their work with the district.
Activities/athletics director Jennifer Betz gave a report on the winter sports season, saying after a break around the holidays, the basketball season is in full swing, with games being held on almost all the upcoming Friday and Saturdays. There will be a Little Six Tournament on Jan. 21 and 22. Spirit week is coming up the first week in February. She added that the FFA is getting ready for national FFA week starting on February 19.
Special Education Assistance Director Misty McTaggart said there have been no applications yet for the full-time 7-12 Special Education Teacher.
Maintenance man Jay Buhr reported that a pipe froze and broke over Christmas break and created problems in the kindergarten room, and he has fixed the problem and is looking into a way to keep it from happening during the next spell of cold weather. He said there were some problems in the mothballed Arvada school as well during the cold, but they have been fixed.
The board voted to accept the dress code as presented in the student handbook, and Amy commented on how well the students did in coming up the with dress code and the prom dress code.
After an executive session to discuss personnel matters the board discussed some upcoming events of the Wyoming School Board Association, including upcoming training workshops and the 2022 WSBA Legislative Forum and Reception to be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022 in Cheyenne’s Little America.
