Wyoming 2020 Workplace Fatality Numbers Increase From 2019

For the 4th year in a row, Wyoming has seen an increase in deaths while on the job.
The Research and Planning Section of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services reports that there were 35 occupational fatalities in 2020.
That number is up from 32 in 2019, and it’s the highest number since 2014 when there were 37.
Of the deaths, 13 happened in Natural Resources and Mining, 12 in Trade, Transportation and Utilities, 3 in construction and 5 in all other industries.
The DWS says variations in fatalities from year to year are to some extent, the result of the random nature of work-related accidents.
Furthermore, there is not always a direct relationship between workplace fatalities and workplace safety.
Workplace fatalities are counted in the state where the incident occurred and not where the company is located out of.
