Sheridan and Johnson County August 2021 Unemployment Numbers Are Down

As businesses continue to recover from last year’s covid pandemic, new unemployment numbers suggest that the trend is getting back to where it used to be.

The Research and Planning section of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for August 2021 in Wyoming was at 4.9%.

That’s down from 5.2% in July, and a little bit below the August 2021 national average of 5.2%.

Teton County had the lowest unemployment rate for August 2021 in Wyoming at 2.4%.

Natrona County had the highest rate at 5%, but had the highest 1-year drop, as the county was at 9.0% in August 2020.

Sheridan County checked in with a 3.4% unemployment rate for August 2021.

That’s down from 4.0% in July 2021, and down from 4.0% in August 2020.

Johnson County had a 3.1% unemployment rate in August 2021.

That’s down from 3.4% in July 2021, and down from 5.4% in August of 2020.

The Department of Workforce Services adds that the number of nonfarm employment in the state was up by 5,500 jobs in August 2021, compared to August 2020.
