The Sheridan Memorial Hospital is dotting their i’s and crossing their t’s on a few things before receiving some incoming federal money.

At the recent Hospital Board of Trustees meeting, President and CEO Mike McCafferty announced the Wyoming State Department of Health was about to award the hospital with its first financial installment of the Rural Health Transformation Program, when it was discovered that there were too many differences with the language in the contact, compared to the language in the hospital’s proposal for the funding.

McCafferty adds the Department only had about 2-3 months to review all of the proposals from all of the state hospitals, and rushing through all of that led to a few mistakes on some contract awards.

“There’s just some things in there that we want to make sure are lined up with what he had intended to do and so we’re going through that process right now and so I think it’s really important for us to make sure that all those things line up before they commit and we commit and so we’re just going through that process. The timelines are so quick and there’s so much work that the Department of Health is doing that it makes it very challenging.”

McCafferty says it’s too early to say what projects are being funded and how much money the hospital will receive for those projects, but hopes to have an answer by the next board meeting on October 28th.
