Teen Killed In Single Vehicle Rollover East Of Sheridan
A teen is dead after crashing his pickup truck on a highway east of Sheridan.
According to a Wyoming Highway Patrol preliminary crash summary, sometime around midnight on Friday, July 24th, the unidentified 16-year old male driver was westbound on Wyoming State Highway 336 (aka Wyarno Road) at around mile marker 6.6, when he failed to negotiate a slight left curve in the roadway and drove off the road on the north side.
The passenger-side wheels and tires drove on the gravel road edge, before the vehicle struck 3 delineator posts.
The driver then corrected to the left and back onto the roadway, but he ended up overcorrecting and his vehicle went into a passenger-side leading slide and off the south edge of the road, and down an embankment.
The vehicle briefly straightened out at the bottom of the ditch, but then it struck the opposing hillside, went uphill and became airborne, before landing on a large flat area, causing the vehicle to roll and it came to a rest on its roof.
The teen driver was not wearing a seat belt and driver inattention is listed as a contributing factor in the crash.
At the time of the incident, it was the 73rd fatality on a Wyoming highway this year, but that number has since jumped to 76, which is ahead of 72 fatalities at around this time last year.

This a tragic loss of life for this teen, his family and young friends! He will never return, get married or have a family of his own! I can’t even imagine what could have been going through his mind as this accident unfolded and he was trying to control this vehicle!
The truth is that the majority of new drivers study and pass the written exam, drive enough to pass the practical test with an officer and then are turned loose to
take command of a machine that has the power to end a future. Most with no formal training once called “Drivers
Education. This was a credited class at all High
schools. This educational class instilled responsibilities and skills required to drive on the open road! There were videos and pictures of tragic accidents to observe and learn what happens in exactly this type of accident. If I had a teen beginning to drive at this present time, I would insist on proper training, restriction to city limits and a “Find me” share with their phone!
Please don’t go through what these parents and many from the past have gone through! Your heart has a hole that will never be filled… a missing link.
