SHS students participate in National Day of Prayer

Sheridan High School students in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter greeted students arriving to school with a free donut if they write down a prayer during National Day of Prayer Thursday. The event culminated with students praying around the flagpole at 7:50 a.m.

    its important to keep church and state separate on the grounds of public schools. This is how Christian nationalism gets their foot into the door of our public schools. It starts with small events like this one. It sounds silly but it usually involves giving out donuts or some type of sugar to influence kids to participate. It works. If you are interested in the Christian right’s assault on our public schools Katherine Stewart has written 3 excellent books on the subject: The Good News Club, Money Lies and God, and The Power Worshipers. She is a great writer. Our public schools deserve to be free of the indoctrination from the Christian right.
